LGBTQ 101 Educational Training Workshop

LGBTQ Westmoreland Interfaith Network
LGBTQ 101 is a basic training covering fundamentals of the LGBTQ experience. We look at current terms, definitions and vocabulary; examine the social context of discrimination and examine some the physical and behavioral disparities experienced by the LGBTQ community. There’s an extended look at SOGIE (Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity & Expression). The program finishes with a brief discussion of current legal issues affecting the LGBTQ community.
This workshop will feature Ted Hoover of the Persad Center in Pittsburgh, the nation’s second oldest behavioral health & wellness center working with the LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS community.

Understanding Transgender People: Training Workshop

This workshop will feature local expert Rick Marsili providing training about transgender people including statistical information, medical, social, psychological and spiritual needs, and later will feature a panel of individuals sharing first-person experiences to help the audience understand how each of us can support transgendered people.
